I've had my licence for a long time now and I try to be an aware and observant and safe driver every day, all the time. And I learned and refreshed on so many aspects of what I do - my patterns and habits needed a review! Loved the chance to put a lot of the steering recommendations together in the practical bits - the skid pan was fabulous to really get how it feels to lose control and get it back. Again and again. Phew. And the stopping distances at what at other times would consider to be fairly slow speeds - very, very glad I have a car with ABS. Pulling up fast, without engaging it, was educational. Pulling up with it, I can see could easily be lifesaving for me or someone else. And going around the track - that was brilliant to feel the difference bracing makes on those tricky little corners - so steady. All up - fantastic course, wonderful encouraging instructors, highly recommend to everyone whether they think they need it or not! It tests whether that's really true and that's a good thing to do however long you've been driving. Caitlin from Evatt I would like to say a few words on the defensive driving course run by Panache Driving training, I have been driving for 19 years accident free until march this year when had my 1st car accident, I wish I had done the defensive driving course prior to my accident as I believe the skills taught by Derek and Frank are life changing and valuable, I know that I may have been able to lessen and possibly avoided the accident with the right skills, you think you know how to drive until the boys put you out in the skid pan , what a buzz that was J the best part is you are taught how to control your car in wet and slippery conditions, The course let me see where I was going wrong in my steering and brake control and even how to stop suddenly but safely, you also get to see how others handle their cars big and small in the same conditions, Derek and Frank even taught those who didn’t know like me how to check water, oil and tyre pressure as these are things I have always left to others and as slack as it was I didn’t have a clue how to check these things and that’s simple car maintenance we should all know. The best part of the course was definitely the skid pan and having to put poor Derek and Frank in the car with me losing control, you did well Guys look forward to doing the course again one day to show off how much I learnt and practiced since I left, The course I recommend to anyone and everyone wanting to get up to date with safer driver training, I felt the money was well spent and its knowledge that is practised daily and yes Derek I am keeping my hands in the correct position on the steering wheel and not letting one rest on the gears J I have a 17 year old learning to drive with Panache driving school and she keeps reminding me about keeping my hands on the steering wheel and not resting on the gears ( an old habit of mine…) Guess your never to old to learn hey…. They provided a comfortable environment which did not take away from the seriousness of what they were teaching. The theory component contained basic information that every driver should know. While on the skid pan and track, in a controlled environment we learnt proper steering and braking techniques. The course improved my ability to handle my car in different road and weather conditions and I now feel more confident on the road.
